Serverless architecture on AWS

This site is built with AWS: static site on S3 with CloudFront, resort data in DynamoDB, API via Gateway and Lambda. Data is managed in Google Sheets and synced to DynamoDB. QGIS, OpenStreetMap, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB.

Why This Was Started

Standardized resort information for skiers

The inspiration came from Storm Skiing, skimap.org, and openskimap.org. I started this due to the lack of standardized resort information—custom maps make it hard to compare. The atlas compiles statistics using OpenStreetMap and QGIS so skiers can compare resorts fairly.

Built with React

Modern, interactive web experiences

Several parts of Global Ski Atlas use React for responsive, interactive UIs—including the resort comparison tool and other data-rich views. React helps deliver fast, component-based interfaces that work well across devices.
