Clay maps and the ski game are why this site exists. Start with the mountain nearest you, then try Japan, the Andes, or the Alps.
Kids, a pass day, or a Friday escape: 1–4 hour rings to the nearest hills.
Two mountains, one table — then ski the winner in 3D before you book.
If trails look thin, edit OSM or write the wiki.
Choosing where to ski usually means bouncing between resort websites that measure acres, vertical, and trail difficulty differently. Global Ski Atlas rebuilds that picture from OpenStreetMap winter-sports boundaries, downhill pistes, and lifts so you can browse thousands of mountains on one map, compare shortlists with shared definitions, and plan drive times without treating brochure copy as gospel.
Start on the 3D map of the hill nearest you, then drive time or compare. The 2D interactive map is the full index. When OSM looks incomplete, tag the resort so the next 3D build is better.
The project is a planning and research aid, not an official trail map or avalanche forecast. Confirm openings, closures, and safety with resorts and local authorities before you ski. Learn more on the About and FAQ pages, or reach out via Contact.
The coffee table book prints these 3D maps when OSM is good enough.
